They negotiate the best deals, list the best homes, have the biggest network of buyers looking for homes, and market properties more effectively, both on the web and off. That's why people come back to them again and again. That's why they sell more homes!
They are proven winners - and people know it. When in doubt, choose a CRS, the formally Certified Residential Specialists under the umbrella of the National Association of Realtors (NAR, the largest trade organization in the world, and it is private NOT public) -- did you know there are over 1,000,000 real estate agents in the United States? And most don't make any money? Did you know that most of them are green and don't last long? (the attrition rate is 80 of 100 new agents are gone within three years - no income, hours too long, wrong lifestyle).
The longevity is proven by those who make money, get repeat business, show the highest concern for a record of ethics and performance -- and become CRS's, the Ph.D. of residential real estate -- and there are only 40,000 (out of 1 million agents) in the United States. This private group of specialists has a network to be sure when their client travels to a new place, they get cared for. They do get a referral fee, usually, for connecting a client to a good CRS agent -- but it costs the client nothing and they are assured high quality in this very volatile field called real estate.
A CRS agent wants the best for you, whether they get paid or not -- the CRS philosphy is that what goes around comes around, and this is why this elite corps of agents -- virtually all of them full brokers, not sales agents -- makes it. You want one good one in your camp and you want to be under their wing.
On the other hand, if you have a good agent who is not a CRS -- GO FOR IT -- but you can have the best of both worlds, too, by looking for those three initials after their name when you are alone and in an unusual city -- quality assured goes into the CRS before the agent can wear it.
